>> Interview with RACK-LO ...continued
In last years follow up interview with Big Vic Lo, we heard rumor that
Lo-Lifes were working on a major motion picture. Lots of speculation
that Jay-Z purchased the script is lingering around the streets... Is
this true?
RACK-LO:
Man you know what, it’s whatever. Yeah, Jay-Z came across our motion picture script and showed much interest. But our mission and crusade to getting this movie to the silver screens don’t stop there. We are grinding hard and we are very much consistent with everything we do. We are still shopping our scripts. In this world, you have to keep all of your options open, but at the same time control and own your shit. Like all these executives are running around putting weak shit out to the public. They be fronting on the real shit. Like everybody’s trying to bring the East Coast back, but I’m going to let all of ya’ll know East Coast Hip Hop ain't coming back till The Lo-Life’s bring the coast back. It’s our turn. Ya’ll dudes had it long enough and aint really produce shit. It’s time for Hip Hop classics again. Point blank, so if you’re in your big executive offices somewhere reading this interview take heed. Stop fronting because we ain’t going no where. It’s only a matter of time before we take over the industry on all levels. The Lo-Life way! We are not just dealing with music, we have a multi-media agenda. So before you know it, we’ll have all of your jobs. Because 90% of the industry is slipping right now.
Talking about this movie, what type of actors will be in it? Lo-Lifes,
Lo-Heads, professional actors? Will actual Ralph Lauren pieces be used
in the film? Do you think Ralph Lauren will co-sign a movie which
glorifies the boosting of his gear, as well as the lifestyle of poor
blacks and Spanish kids growing up in NYC?
RACK-LO:
But once you can get pass the boostin part of our story, I think you can then start to look at our story objectively. You can’t be afraid of what we created and started. You can’t be bias. I mean the boostin element is like one of the reasons our shit is so different. Boostin was a hustle, not our lives. It’s how some of us chose to get by. It was survival. It’s always been meaning to everything we did. We just didn’t boost because we wanted to cause chaos for no reason. Hell no! It’s something similar to the Robin Hood story. But outside of boosting, we rep Hip Hop culture to the fullest. And I can honestly say that I have never come across any other team that repped like us growing up. My team reps every element of Hip Hop culture. And I’m not just talking we have things to prove it besides words.
I think it will be a great thing for Ralph Lauren to endorse and sponsor or co-sign our movie. I mean, it represents him in a positive light. Not only should he sponsor our movie, but he should do so for any Lo driven event(s) that we put together. But as far as the actors in the movie, it will probably be professional actors. It was a buzz going around that Pharrell was going to play the Rack-Lo role. And it was some truth to that. I think it will be much more appealing to wider audiences if we have professional actors. But that will in no way, take from our story. We want the real version of how everything went down. And if there are any opportunities for me to play myself in the movie, I’m down for that as well. I can do anything I put my mind to. And can’t nobody play the Rack-Lo role like Rack-Lo. There is no other person on this earth that thinks like me. I started all this. We’ve come across a few production companies’ that wanted us to change our scripts up to include exaggerated shit. No, we don’t roll like that. We are the truth, so the truth must be televised to the people the right way. That’s why the game is so corrupt now because these Artists nowadays accept anything. How the fuck are you going to accept that type of responsibility with no ownership or control. But ya’ll claim you are thorough, everybody’s a hard rock and killer. So answer this one question all of you rapping killers, why are you being pimped? Why you don’t know the game? Why are you bitching and complaining about bad contracts? I thought you were slick. How can you let a slick out slick a slickster? See and that’s why I’m a Lo-Life. The opposite of what u think it is. How Wu Tang said it? we are the soul controllers! I like that mentality and way of living. That shit is appealing to me, just like the Wu Tang Clan forever will be.
I know you been doing your thing with music for a while now, what's
brewing with Rack Lo' on the music tip. Working with anyone else in the
game? Guest appearances etc?
RACK-LO:
Musically, I am on fire right now. To put it plain and simple, the Rack-Lo takeover is upon us. Currently, I have 4 new albums complete ready for pressing and packaging. I have 2 DVD’s coming as well. The first DVD coming in August 2006 features myself and Thirstin Howl The 3rd live in concert called “Skill or be Skilled”. The first album release will also hit stores everywhere in July 2006. It’s called “Lo Down & Dirty” also featuring myself and Thirstin Howl The 3rd. This is a classic for sure. Then to top the year off right, I’ll be releasing “The Best of Rack-Lo” collector’s edition CD around Christmas time. And early 2007, the Rack-Lo saga continues with the release of “The Author” my new solo album and another DVD coming mid 2007 called Golden Era Terror “Lo Down At The Barbecue”. You know I also have the Lo-Life Mix tape series popping. Plus we can’t forget about the “Golden Era Terror” mix tape series. Plus the “Rackn4Life” mix tapes series. So I’m about to flood the market on some Rack-Lo shit. I’m going to keep dropping releases because I’m calling the shots here. First it’s the most high, and then I’m second in command. So all my official Lo Heads out there the movement is moving.
Vintage Gear Addicts and Lo-Lifes have joined forces to make this Lo shit one divine movement. This Easter Sunday 2006 was the first annual Lo Down At the BBQ, how was the turn out on this event. How did it feel to see cats reppin’ that lo’ from different walks of life?
RACK-LO:
First off, I got crazy love for VGA. Oprime and Victor are definitely helping to take this whole movement to higher heights and I’m rolling all the way. The Easter event was a big success. The turnout was crazy and it was nothing but love and loyalty in the air. Yo, Official Lo heads came from as far as Washington D.C., Chicago, Miami, Charlotte NC and Boston to make history. It’s crazy but I felt like everybody that attended the event was family. Official Lo heads united. It’s our time now. It’s time for all Official Lo Heads to come together and unite. I’m putting the word out. I’m talking about Official Lo heads all over the world. It’s no movement out there period that’s bigger and more loyal than the Lo movement. So to all of the Official Lo heads that came out to the barbecue to make history with us, we appreciate that. Real rackonize Real, we got nothing but love for all of you. It’s love and loyalty for life fam. And I want particular people to know who I’m talking about from the VGA forum. So I’m going to shout some names out and if I forget you, forgive me. Hy-Lo, Meyhem Lauren, Polo Chic, Bags-Lo, Spag-Lo, Hess-Lo, Malik-Lo, Lo’Prime, Vic (VGA), Wiggz-Lo, PauLo, The kids with the Polo Bathrobes (All 4 of them), The kid with the Lo ski button up and blue Crown hat and his girl was rocking the red teddy bear knit and there was many more but I can’t name them all. They know who they are. If you came to the barbecue and want to check out the BBQ Lo photos go to www.myspace.com/racklo . But yeah, VGA and Lo-Life’s have united and joined forces and it’s a beautiful thing. Together, we will bring the East back on the fashion tip and rep for and expand our movements.
